Making of Basingstoke
Summer 2007
Young people in Basingstoke are being given a unique opportunity to help make their town a place to be proud of. Through this innovative project young residents are looking at creative ways to celebrate and enhance areas of the town centre.This project is supported by the Local Network Fund and Basingstoke & Dean Borough Council.

Working with professional design company DesignSpy, young people in Buckskin (Basingstoke) can learn about brands and design, and create an official brand for The Making's Street Art project. This project is open to young people aged 14-19 living in the Buckskin ward of Basingstoke. John Hunt of Everest Community College

Take part in a 3D design workshop being run by artists Adam Paddon and Thomas Joynes, who have been commissioned to create a public sculpture for the new Everest Community College building in Basingstoke. Suitable for ages 5yrs+. All children aged 5-12 yrs and individuals with special needs should be accompanied by an adult or carer. The often tricky transition for school pupils to the FE/college environment is the focus of this term's meeting. Tutors from Basingstoke College of Technology and Queen Mary's College will offer advice and show example portfolios to help clarify expectations about quality and quantity of work required from new students.This session will also have a focus on textiles with input from teachers who are using the work of artist Alice Kettle as inspiration for Yr 10 projects.
