Public Art Commissions, Call for artists 2006
The Making, John Hunt of Everest Community School and Hampshire County Council invite submissions from artists for a series of five site specific permanent artworks for the new Everest Community College in Basingstoke, north Hampshire.Theatre of Making Pilot Programme

The Theatre of Making is an ambitious touring programme of events, that celebrates and promotes high quality crafts and encourages people of all ages and abilities to take part in the art of making.It is our ambition to run up to six Theatre of Making events a year throughout the south east region, building on some of our successes in the past, 'Hot Metal at Milestones' and creating some completely new events, for example 'Dining in Style' and a eco-craft event 'Flotsam & Jetsam'.

Willow Sculpture Workshops

8 November to 13 December, 2006
Aged 14-19? Then come and join artist Angela Morley and create your own sculptures. Learn how willow can be used to create contemporary sculpture based on designs and techniques from the past. Get Making- Popley Pavilion Project
Eco-Fashion, Sound & Video Workshops
At Popley Fields Community Centre, Monday 6-10pm, 13 November 2006
and Melrose Community Hall, Wednesdays 6-10pm 1, 8, 15 November 2006
These workshops are led by fashion designer Sue Riley, musician Richard Pryn and photographer Andy Fleming; learn how to design and create clothes, play your own musical instruments built from recycled materials or shoot your own video short. The projects will include silk screen printing, computer aided musical composition and digital video editing.Grand Finale Fashion Show

Hot Metal at milestones was a fantastic, fun day out for visitors and artists alike. Crowds of 500 plus gathered to watch a range of metal artists demonstrate their crafts at the museum, and had the opportunity to take part in several of the workshops on offer.

'Tree of Life' sculpture project to be lead by woodcarver Jeremy TurnerEvery pupil, including those in reception will have the experience of woodcarving and exploring unfamiliar and exciting tools. Each wood carved piece will be added to the 'Tree' which will become a large group sculpture.

Photography Workshops
Winklebury Youth Club
Thursdays, 5.30-8.30pm
28 September and 5th October, 2006
Aged 14-19? Then come and join photographer Andrew Fleming and create your own images. Learn how to compose pictures and develop original murals using your 35mm slides and photographs, to be painted inside the youth club.

Here you can see the results! Everyone who attended made one mural by layering photographs onto a board in an abstract and random way. The other mural was produced by projecting slides onto the wall. The images were then outlined and painted. The mural was completed by adding a border of photographs around the edge.
